35mm — properly called 135 — is the most widely available and easiest to use film format. It loads in seconds, fits nearly every 35mm camera ever made, and comes in almost every stock, which makes it the natural choice for street, travel, and everyday shooting. The trade-off is size: its smaller negative gathers less detail than a medium- or large-format frame, so large prints show more grain. When you want the finest detail, that is where a larger format comes in.
